IEW SUMMER WORKSHOPS 2024

In my 101 and 911! summer workshops, students learn how to approach an assignment and put something together as painlessly as possible, perhaps with pizzazz!

Classes run 75-90 minutes and are recorded. All materials are provided. Invite your friends to join you! Class minimum is ten students. Registration closes Saturday before class.

Each workshop is unique so you can enroll your student in more than one!

Writing Wrappers 101
Students learn how to take notes, write summaries, and organize information for solid paragraphs, then they will “wrap up” plain writing to create stylish paragraphs. Students will learn how to
      *gather and organize information
      *make notes and outlines
      *give a simple presentation
      *write from notes
      *summarize a reference
      *expand plain sentences with IEW dress-ups
      *edit with Fix It Grammar Level 1 Nose Tree
Assignments are begun in class. All materials are provided.

Stellar Stories 101
Designed for plain writers and creative composers, this fun IEW workshop empowers students with writing skills for stories.  Students are introduced to story structure and learn
     *to identify the parts of a story
     *learn the elements of fiction
     *make notes and outlines
     *summarize narrative stories
     *compose their own stories
     *expand plain sentences with 3 stylistic techniques
     *learn how to add conversations in a story
     *edit with Fix It Grammar Level 1 Nose Tree

In just a few hours, students learn how to write an informative report and keep track of information. IEW structure for topical paragraphs and specialized stylistic techniques are taught so students know how to compile a complete report with introduction and conclusion!

This engaging workshop empowers students to answer a prompt, gather and organize information, and write a complete composition. Given an assignment, they’ll know how to plan a paper!
Students will learn how to:
